It is with heavy hearts that the family of Monique Irene Barbara Bulgin (Links)
announce her peaceful passing at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Thursday, September 28th, 2023. She was 67 years young.
Beloved wife of Ronald Bulgin for 45 years. Loving mother of Jason (Sonia), Nathaly (Tyson), and Ashlyn (Neil). Adored grandma of Sophie, Elise, Lucas, Liam, Jasper, Owen, Theo, and Madeline.
Cherished daughter of the late Peter and Elisabeth Links, and daughter-in-law of the late Gordon and Madeline Bulgin. Dear sister of Joan, Peter (Lillian), and Christine (Julian),
and sister-in-law of Diane (Steve), Donna (Jim), and the late Daphne.
Together with her sweetheart, Ron, Nicki built an incredible life. Their three beautiful children, and eight grandchildren were her light and joy. Her boundless energy and generosity along with an infectious smile and sense of humour endeared her to everyone who knew her.
Monique touched the lives of countless children and fellow teachers in her 30-year career at the TDSB, with a particular fondness for those who needed her most. She shared with her students, and those around her, a love of reading and an endless curiosity for nature.
Monique’s love of nature was most evident in her beautiful wildflower gardens which surrounded her homes and cottage. Between activities and crafts, book club and bowling, she volunteered at the Stockey Centre and the Parry Sound hospital, sharing stories or lending her ear. Her taste for travel extended near and far, from childhood trips to Holland, road trips to P.E.I. and Nashville, and adventures in B.C., Italy, Portugal, and the U.K.
She was most in her element spending summers, and later her retirement, in Parry Sound, Ontario; building a gathering place for friends and family where everyone was always warmly welcomed. Monique and Ron could tackle anything together – designing and building their dream home in the woods and enjoying every minute of it. She could be counted on for hot tea in the morning and cards or games into the night.
Monique will be dearly missed.
As was Monique’s wish, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Monique’s Life will be held at a later date.
