It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Melanie on Sunday December 17th, 2023 at the age of 46.
Melanie was the beloved daughter of Sandy Edington (the late Don) and Murray Sidon Sr, (Ruby) and loving granddaughter of Ruth Post Francis. Cherished mother of Bailey (Hilary) and Reiley, and proud Nana of Piper and Poppy. She will be deeply missed by her brother Murray Sidon Jr. (Sarah), her sister Cheri-Lyn Sidon (Troy), her Edington stepbrothers Ron (Lorie), Scott (Kathy), Mark (Lisa) and Mick (Christine). Missed and always remembered by Shane Rochon, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, as well as her dear friends.
As a lover of life and at the heart of everything she did, Melanie touched the lives of many people with her free-spirited nature and her beautiful soul.
Melanie leaves behind her 2 beautiful boys whom she adored with her whole heart. She worked hard to guide them through the tough times in life and she always celebrated their accomplishments with pride and admiration.
Melanie was one of a kind and her sense of adventure, love, spirituality, kindness, care, and compassion for all things will always be remembered. There isn’t anything Melanie wouldn’t do to try to help those in need of love, support, food, shelter or simply a ride. She generously gave what she could of herself wherever and whenever needed.
Melanie’s desire to use organic and natural materials to make medicines for the purpose of helping all living things was incredible. Whether her medicines helped reduce or eliminate pain, and/or inflammation, cure infections or made you look and feel 20 years younger, she was always searching for ways to ‘find the perfect cure’.
Those of you who knew Melanie well, know that she moved forward at full speed and some may even refer to her as the ‘perfect storm’. She held a very special place in the hearts of many and we will be forever grateful for the gifts she gave.
She was a beautiful vibrant adventurer with many things left to do; she was amazing in the kitchen whether using left overs to create a delicious and nutritious meal; making a holiday meal with all the fixings while preparing everything from scratch; to baking up a storm of Christmas goodies to share. She was a force of nature and passionate about everything she held dear. She was stubborn and would dig in her heels and fight hard for what she believed in. Her fiery and fierce desire for life could not be tamed and no challenge was too big for her to tackle.
Melanie was truly a gift and if you’ve had the pleasure of being a part of her heart, you know that when she loved, she loved so deeply. Throughout life, she’s dealt with the highs and she’s dealt with the lows and now her time on earth has ended. We are left to cherish the gifts of love she gave by celebrating the joy she brought into our lives.
As we mourn our loss, we will take much comfort in the many memories and experiences we have shared with Melanie over the course of our lives. As her spirit continues to radiate in our hearts forever, we will hold dearly the gratitude we feel for having the privilege of sharing in her life’s journey. The lessons she shared of life, love, kindness, and the importance of family will continue to inspire all who knew her. We will miss her fun and loving presence forever and always.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at the Torrance Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of Melanie’s life at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Harvest Share or the Salvation Army in memory of Melanie.
