In loving memory of Herbert Riedel who passed away on Sunday October 22, 2023 at Lakeland Long Term Care. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings Lorene, Margaret and Bernie. Predeceased by his father William, mother Martha, siblings Irene, Wilfred, and Irma. Herbert was an avid sportsman and enjoyed bowling and golfing, having won many accolades over the years. He was a voracious reader and kept his mind active and busy reading a wide genre of books. Herbert was never married, but his life was dedicated to taking care of his sisters to make sure they were safe and happy despite their disabilities. He was generous in time and money to his various charities. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand niece and nephew who will always remember him as Uncle Santa. He always bought the most incredible and thoughtful Christmas gifts! Herbert became a well respected and liked member of his adoptive community of Parry Sound after moving there from Kitchener to be closer to his family. He will be surely missed by all who had the chance to know him. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Torrance Funeral Home on Saturday October 28, 2023 from 2- 4 PM for a time of memorial visiting. If desired, donations to Lakeland Long Term Care or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
