Pistol
It is with overwhelming grief and heartfelt sadness that family and friends come together to announce the sudden passing of their beloved Pistol at the age of 32 on January 10, 2024.
Pistol is deeply loved and missed by her partner Nik; her mom Tracey, Papa Rod, brothers Chris (Natalie), Bobby and Liam; her second parents in Nancy and Bruce; grandparents Grandpa Ken, and Grandma Patricia; and so many loving aunts, cousins, dear friends, and extended family members. She is predeceased by her grandmother Arvilla whom she adored.
Pistol was a silo of strength, compassion, and caring. A magnificent communicator—softpoken, kind, and gentle—and a force to be reckoned with when standing up for her friends, family, and beliefs. She had a contagious laugh that paired brilliantly with her idiosyncratic sense of humour.
She loved music and was always happy listening to Johnny Flynn, Laura Marling, Waxahatchee, or Dolly Parton. She was a talented singer, guitarist, and banjo player (though she would never admit it). She loved the color green, her daily walk around the Rideau Canal, sweater weather, fresh raspberries, and cherished her cat Oro.
Always creative and ever-persevering, Pistol was determined to reach her long standing goal of attending art school to study silversmithing, drawing, and painting. She was well on her way to achieving that goal when she was accepted into the Haliburton School of Art and Design in 2023.
She was in love with her Irish heritage and had the opportunity to visit Ireland with her family in 2022. A lifelong learner, she regularly studied the Irish Gaelic language, first in University, and recently in her spare time. Honouring her wishes, Pistol’s ashes will be lovingly scattered in Ireland, a place she felt profoundly connected to.
Family and friends will gather privately to honour Pistol.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Pistol’s honour to the ual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated; and/or a donation of blood.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Emergency and ICU teams at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus who worked tirelessly to try and save her. Their compassion and professionalism will never be forgotten.
