Maxine Johnston
Maxine passed away suddenly at home on Monday, September 25, 2023. Maxine Johnston was born on February 8, 1958 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was the eldest of seven. She is predeceased by her parents Edith Johnston (nee Doucet) and George Johnston, as well as by her brother, Richard Johnston. She is survived by her siblings Darlene Manning (David), Ken Johnston, Karen Randall (Michael), David Johnston (Joan) and Cynthia Johnston. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Gillian Manning (Mike Beking), Laurel Faiers (James), Kyle Shipman (Maeve Stinson), Brendan Manning, and Kaylah Johnston (Marcus Allen), and many loving relatives and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Maxine started off her career as a secretary and moved on to IT. But her passion in life was arts and crafts. She was a talented knitter and crocheter. Over the years, many of her family and friends received her lovely creations. She was very generous with her time and talents and was especially proud of her role as a volunteer at the Royal Mental Health Centre where she shared these talents. Most recently, Maxine discovered acrylic pour painting, and in true Maxine fashion, she embraced it wholeheartedly. She was an avid reader and was never without a book. Those closest to her, knew that Maxine loved everything relating to Lilo and Stitch. This movie both healed and inspired her. She became a collector of all forms of Lilo and Stitch paraphernalia, providing her with much joy and entertainment.
Please join us on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 9:30 am for visitation at the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral at 315 McLeod Street in Ottawa with a celebration of life to follow in the chapel at 11:00 am.
