Martin was born on February 21, 1942 at the Grace Hospital in Ottawa and passed away at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Beverley Ann Beazley.
Predeceased by his parents Maurice Edward Swords, and Veronica Mary Berrigan.
Proud father / grandfather of Janet, and her twins William and Isaac; Tim, and his sons Benton and Jaden; the late Carolyn Louise (2009), and her husband Kelly Sturgess, and their sons Matthew and Mason; Shawn, and his beloved wife Shelley, and their daughters Syla and Savannah.
Marty will also be missed by his extended family and friends.
Marty was a graduate of the University of Ottawa and spent 35 years teaching High School in Ottawa. Those years were spent at The University of Ottawa High School, Champlain High School, Woodroffe High School, and Nepean High School.
Marty, may be remembered as an athletic individual playing a number of sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, Curling, Oldtimers Softball, Golf. Not all were played at the same level of excellence ie: Basketball he always said: “I never saw a shot I did not like”. Not the best passer in the world!
Marty was a dedicated and very proud family man who supported his children and grandchildren with all of their endeavors.
Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Thursday, July 11 from 1 pm until Celebration of Life Ceremony in the Chapel at 2:30 pm.
