Jim Robert Parisien passed away at the age of 61 after a short and courageous battle with Cancer.
Loving husband of 37 years to Karen Parisien (nee Girard). Devoted father to Samantha Grummett (Benjamin) and Thomas Parisien. Doting Grandfather “Ceepa” to Amelia Grummett. Beloved son of Rudy (deceased) and Beatrice Parisien, and Son-in-Law of Ron and Gail (deceased) Girard. Cherished Brother to Brian (Diane), Harvey (Susan), and Linda Banfalvi (Tom), Brother-in-Law to Kim Girard (Greg) and Kathy Curry (Steve). Proud Uncle to Michael, Shanna, Alexandra, Nicolas, Christopher, Evan, Krista, Travis, MacKenzie, Sarah and Benjamin.
Jim was a loyal friend to many including Louis, Dave, Janice, Derek, Kevin (deceased), Tom and of course his beloved dog Deacon.
Jim graduated from Ottawa University with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He started his career at the National Research Council of Canada where he helped to design the machine vision system for the first CanadArm on the space shuttle and future space station. He then moved on to Canadian astronautics Limited, Excalibur Systems Limited, and Tundra Semiconductor.
He was a Founding Partner and President for Ridemaster Corporation, Fabric Embedded Tools Corporation and Rio Lab. He completed his career at SmartCone Technologies as the Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer.
Jim and his wife Karen recently built their long-planned retirement home on their cottage property on the beautiful Bonnechere River. He got to see his boyhood playground turn into their forever home. He loved the outdoors and being up in the hills behind his cottage property, playing lob ball with “the boys”, hunting, camping, cooking, playing guitar, exploring back trails on his ATV and riding his Harley Davidson.
Jim measured his life not by his accomplishments or accolades but by the depth of his love and friendships.
Our gratitude goes out to the many doctors, nurses and support staff at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and The Madawaska Valley Hospice; their compassion and professionalism was exemplary.
Visitation will be held At the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Friday, October 20 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers you may consider a donation to these worthy institutions or perhaps to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
