Obituary of Bernard William Henry
Bernie was born in Cape Breton, N.S., was called to his maker in his 75th year. Predeceased by his parents Mary W Henry (Crowe) and Bernard V Henry and his younger brother Danny.
Bernie is survived by the love of his life Elaine Henry (Deveau). Siblings Pat Cleator (Paul Cleator), Mike Henry (Jane Hewes), Karen Henry (Frank Osterdal), Paul Henry (Jennifer Spence), Fabian Henry (Cathy). Nieces Jennifer Cleator (Tom Weatherhead), Ella Henry, Jamie Henry, Micah Henry (Anya Saugstad)
Bernie enjoyed both his work and social contact in his 33 years with Public Works and Government Services. Upon retirement he regularly met the group from work for breakfast most Fridays where he continued his work place friendships.
Bernie and Elaine enjoyed travel around the world. Being a perfectionist, caused Bernie some grief on the golf course, even when he was well under par. This trait served him well with his passion of cooking. Always trying new recipes from foods he tasted on his travels. He enjoyed entertaining and always made visitors feel welcome. His Cape Breton heritage continuing to shine.
Friends and Family are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 20, 2023. Visitation from 10:30 until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m., light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at colefuneralservices.com.
