Retired Teacher – Scarborough Board of Education and proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Passed away peacefully at Kingsdale Chateau with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Zelma Koenders (née Danby) for 67 years. Dear and loving father of Ellen Patkai (Ron), Patricia Harris (Craig), Maryanne Mercer (Keith), the late James, Valerie Wolfreys (Dan), Mary O’Neil, Theresa Koenders, Michael (Cindy) and John (Kathy). Fondly remembered and deeply loved by his 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Survived by his sister Theresa McLaury (late Roy). Raymond was predeceased by his brothers Harold (late Hazel), Alphonse (late Star) and Walter (Mary). Dear brother-in-law of Verna Carman (Sidney), Elaine Hughson (Wayne), Elva Danby (late Stirling) and the late Eunice Plaskitt (late Bill). Also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 11 – 12:15 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Paul The Apostle Parish, 1111 Taylor Kidd Blvd., Kingston at 1 pm. Rite of Committal St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery, Amherst Island.
