DETENBECK (nee Hines), Sandra Louise “Sandy” – On Friday November 3, 2023 at Chippawa Creek at Bella Care, at the age of 83 years, Sandy passed away with strength and on her own terms with her children at her side. Devoted wife of Richard “Dick” Detenbeck of 62 years. Cherished and dedicated mother of Greg (Sylvie) and Susan Detenbeck. Dear sister-in-law of Shirley Hines (the late Ronald “Butch” Hines), Sally Detenbeck (the late Robert “Bob” Detenbeck), and Shirley (Percy) Wilson. Although Sandy did not have grandchildren of her own, she was able to feel like a grandmother for the past 4 years to the little one that made her smile every day, Ash Vincent Merani.
Sandy is also predeceased by her sisters, Margie (Eddie) Webber and Judy (Mike) Krowchuk; parents Mary Alice “Mollie” and William “Bill” Hines; sister-in-law Barbara Detenbeck and nephew Bradley Webber. Sandy will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and by all those who she treated like family. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Bella for their care and compassion over the past year. To Rev. Wally and the congregation at Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church and to all the amazing friends who have been a source of comfort and support to Dick and the kids especially Dick’s neighbour Pat Eade who is there for him every day.
Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street on Wednesday November 8th from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m., followed the interment at St. John’s United Cemetery, Snyder. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Ronald McDonald House.
