Mary Rose (Kolometz) Diamond- (May 6, 1934 – December 22, 2024 – the 25th anniversary of Garnet’s passing) was the loving and devoted wife to Garnet Diamond (d. Dec 1999) for 44 years. From their first breaths to her last, she was a mother to Barry (the late Sandie Bellows), Michael (Mary Ellen), Wayne (d. Apr 2014), Paul (Louisa) and Brian (Ginette). She was the sixth of nine children born to Karl and Sonia Kolometz. She is predeceased by brothers, Michael (Aurora) and Alex; sisters, Helen (Oliver Proulx), Anne (Rod Powers), Stella (Percy Gale), and Nellie (Sid Diamond). She is survived by sisters Ollie (the late Peter Robinson) and Bonnie (Charlie White). She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Meghan (Gessie Mulé), Taryn (Lowell Heppner), Julie (Joel Reeds), Greg (Karen), Garret (Natalia), Erin, Hannah (Max Catalfamo) and Nathan; great grandchildren: Declan, Elliott and Garnet, and extended family throughout Canada and the USA.
A resident of Niagara Falls all her life, Mary and Garnet spent three years in Ottawa and then retired to Fonthill, before returning to Niagara Falls. She loved to work in her yard and garden, and to do crafts, knit, crochet and quilt. She also enjoyed aquafit, book club, and lunches with old and new friends. Mary will be missed by dear friends Jeanne, Carol and Marie. Many thanks to Care Partners and PSWs, especially Sue and Christine; to the care team at Elgin Falls; and to Dr. Kahn and the palliative care team. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
