LESLIE, Frank Bevan –
The Leslie family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of husband, father, and friend Frank Bevan Leslie at the age of 85. Frank passed away on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at the GNGH in Niagara Falls after a short battle with leukemia. Survived by his wife Sandy, sons Scott and Andrew (Melissa), grandchildren Eliza and Angus, and sister Jane Bickle (Bill), Frank was predeceased by his parents Bruce and Wyn, and sisters Anne Buller (Patt) and Gwen Kivell (Larry).
A former publisher and co-owner of the Niagara Falls Review, Frank grew up around the family business where he worked closely with his father Bruce and grandfather F.H. Following the sale of the newspaper, Frank became the principal shareholder of Kaumeyer Paper Limited before moving into the real estate field as a broker for Salci Real Estate and Royal LePage. He was also a lifelong cattleman, raising registered Black Angus for nearly 25 years on his family’s Brigburn Farm on the Niagara River Parkway.
Frank dedicated his life to several worthy causes. His charitable work included chairing successful capital campaigns for the GNGH and the Niagara Falls Family YMCA, and acting as honorary chairman of the GNGH Catscan Campaign. Frank was a member of numerous community boards and business organizations. In his later years, Frank served as an executive with the Branscombe Family Foundation, the Niagara Health System Foundation, and the Niagara Parks Commission. A passionate advocate for mental health, Frank also became involved with the Pathstone Foundation, acting as honorary chairman of its Mending Children’s Minds Campaign.
If you never had the pleasure of knowing Frank Leslie, we can only sum him up in a few choice words. Frank was a character. Frank was a class act. And Frank was a joy to be around. We will all miss him terribly.
The family will hold a visitation at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street in Niagara Falls on Monday, July 8th from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank’s memory to Pathstone Mental Health, Hospice Niagara or a charity of your choice.
