PAONESSA, Angela (nee Gaglianese) – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday December 30, 2023 at the age of 81. Cherished wife of 64 years to the late Francesco (August 2023) and adored father of the late Teresa Paonessa (October 2022), Stella Hutchinson (Kris Schmidt), Joe Paonessa (Heather Skulj-Free), Elio Paonessa (Annette Campbell), Joanne (David) Harris and Fran Paonessa (Roy Dewbury). Loving Nonno to Ashlee Hutchinson, Jessica Hutchinson, Luke Hutchinson, Matthew Harris, Francesco Harris, Brandin Paonessa, Joey Paonessa, Laura Paonessa, Clairisa Paonessa and Joshua Paonessa. Angela is survived by her sisters-in-law Titina and Rosetta. Predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Maria-Stella Gaglianese, parents-in-law Tommaso and Teresa Paonessa, siblings Giuseppina, Giovanni, Domenico, Giuseppe, Luigi, Phillipo, Maria, Victoria and siblings-in-law Giuseppino, Cesare and Luigina. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In 1966, Angela, along with her husband Francesco immigrated from Italy with four small children and a suitcase. Angela had an incredible passion for taking care of others. Together with her husband, they were amazing gardeners and would grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, then she would use her fantastic cooking skills to turn them into wonderful meals she loved to share with family and friends. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than to feed others. She was the backbone of the family, the true nurturer who was hard working, loving, caring, generous, strong and had the biggest heart. She enjoyed life, loved to have fun, enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. There was nothing more important to Angela than her family, she lived for her family with unconditional love. A special thank you to Joyce Otwombe, Chris Lanni and Jennifer Cain for the wonderful care they gave to Angela. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Tuesday January 2, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Scapular Church on Wednesday January 3, 2024 at 10:30 am with the Rite of Entombment to follow at Fairview Mausoleum.
