It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandma (nanny), and great-grandmother, June Mary Small, at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in her 92nd year.
Born in Manchester, Great Britain, June was predeceased by her parents Stephen Lakeman and Ethel Lakeman, her 1st husband Stanley Kawecki, her son Bradley Kawecki and daughter Brenda Kawecki.
Loving mother of Barry (Sally) Kawecki, Barbara (Gerry) Norman, Brian (Kim) Kawecki, Beverely (Bert-predeceased) Hoyt, Beth (Robert) Campbell; proud grandmother of Adam Kawecki, Tara (Spencer) Harding, Carrie (Joe) Bianco, Kristin (Michael) Greenwood, Stephen (Mandi) Kawecki, Nathan (Vanessa) Kawecki, Michael (Lynette) Wendelgass, Christine Wendelgass, Justin (Danielle) Kawecki, Megan Kawecki, Melissa Kawecki, Jessie Hoyt, Joey Hoyt, Jason Hoyt, Kevin Campbell, Roland Campbell and great-grandmother to 27 great-grandchildren.
June knew how to “work a room” with her wit, sense of humour and likeable, friendly personality. She enjoyed playing scrabble, Yahtzee and many card games with family and friends. June was an incredible knitter – some of her best projects were the many blankets, sweaters, slippers, and baby clothes she knitted for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years. June also loved watching sports, especially baseball.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude and appreciation for the care and compassion shown to June by the health care staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre and the dedicated staff at Elden of Bradford.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Township of Oro-Medonte.
