Obituary for Lynda McCarthy (nee Rodrigue)
October 29, 1948 – October 24, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynda McCarthy, beloved wife of Dan McCarthy, on October 24, 2024, just days before her 76th birthday. Lynda fought a courageous battle with cancer and she passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Lynda was a devoted mother to Michael (Julie), Tim, and Amy (Mike), and a cherished nana to her five grandchildren: Thomas, Rosemary, Anna, Lily, and Evelyn. She was a caring sister to her brother Phil Rodrigue (Sue) and loving Aunt to Marc, Andrew (Christine) and their children Oliver, Elliot and Abigail. She also leaves behind nephews Jonathan Rodrigue, Christopher Connolly and Steven Connolly. Lynda is predeceased by her parents, Louis-Philippe Rodrigue and Mae Rodrigue, sister Lisette Connolly (Bob) and brother Paul Rodrigue (Delia). Lynda cared deeply for her McCarthy extended family as well including; Mary Catherine (Jim), Jack (Sharon) and Liz and all of her nieces and nephews: Krista (Chaz), Liam (Melissa), Kate and Kaeli and all of their children. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them.
As a passionate educator Lynda dedicated her life to inspiring others, sharing her love of learning with countless students. Beyond her teaching, she was a creative artist known for her beautiful knitting, and meticulous gardening. Lynda’s hands crafted not only stunning creations but also a legacy of love and kindness.

A celebration of Lynda’s life will be held at The Newcastle Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 29th, from 6-9 PM. Her memory will be honoured on what would have been her 76th birthday. Lynda will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
