Shirley Sutherland Obituary
Of Tweed, Ontario, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 77, due to complications stemming from superficial siderosis. Shirley was an Ontario Scholar, receiving a full scholarship from Queen’s University, Kingston, and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, with Honours, in 1967. Daughter of the late Don Chisholm and Irene (Hall), she leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Terry; her three children, Steven (Nathalie), Michael (Karen), and Joel (Colleen); her nine grandchildren, Alexandre (Stacey), Quinn (Kenzie), Damien, Aidan, Ella, Liam, Charles, Bronwen, and Fiona. She also leaves behind her two siblings, Mary Lou (Brian) and Harvey (Peggy) as well as her sisters-in-law, Linda Cooper (Jim) and Dianna Gamble (Rob), and nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Shirley was a passionate genealogist, an avid traveler, and above all else, loved spending time with family and friends. Her constant positivity and warm laugh will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. We welcome you to a Celebration of Shirley’s Life to take place at the Tweed Kiwanis Pavilion, 137 Victoria Street South in Tweed on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 12:30-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation would be appreciated.
