Paul Edward Downing
Passed away suddenly at his home in Napanee on
July 2nd, 2024, just two months shy of his 75th birthday. He was predeceased by his parents Rev. Arthur and Florence Downing, and grandson Karson.
Paul is mourned by his children Crystal, Shawn, Chad & Brooklynn and granddaughter Saphira. He will also be missed by Glenda Downing, David and Betty Downing, George and Sandy Downing, grandchildren Katelyn, Jacob, and Chase Downing, niece, nephews, and close friends.
Paul retired from a 30 year career with Corrections Canada as a correctional officer. Following retirement in 2003, he kept busy with many interests. He liked to build; especially decks, fences and any other project that came along. He enjoyed camping for many years, loved euchre, poker and solving suduko puzzles, and was an avid fan of the Napanee Raiders. Most of all though, Paul loved spending time with his family, whether it be celebrating someone’s birthday, a holiday celebration or just hanging out. Paul was a natural born leader and mentor, who often found himself at the front of the pack in both his work and private life. He will be sadly missed by many.
Aquamation has taken place. A celebration of Paul’s life will take place at Wartman Funeral Home in Napanee on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 from 11a.m. – 2 p.m. Words of love starting at 11, with a reception to follow.
