CUNNINGHAM, Nancy Marie
Nancy Marie Cunningham was an extraordinary Wife, a caring Sister, and the best Mother in the entire world. She passed peacefully surrounded by infinite love, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the age of 68. Adored by her soul mate Paul Brophy, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage. Eternally loved by her daughter Kendra Marie Cunningham Brophy, Nancy’s pride and joy. Dearly missed by her sister Mary Cunningham, sharing a bond that will last forever. Also loved by her four legged baby, Rosie Posie.
Nancy is predeceased by her proud parents, Doug and Marie Cunningham, as well as many canine companions that we know were waiting for her on the Rainbow Bridge.
Nancy grew up in Guelph Ontario, enjoying a childhood full of family, creativity, and her favourite…dogs. She was a talented dancer with a vivacious personality, and was very involved in the Guelph Community. A 3rd generation Gryphon, Nancy graduated from the University of Guelph in 1978. She started working for The Bank of Montreal in 1979, thus beginning her illustrious 35 year career with BMO. She retired in 2015 as a well loved Senior Manager.
It was at a BMO branch 40 years ago that Nancy met the love of her life, Paul. Paul and Nancy married in 1985, beginning a love story for the ages. In 1997, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Kendra. Nancy’s love for Kendra was unparalleled and palpable to all. She passed her artistic ability down to her daughter, leading her to step into a role she loved so much – Dance Mom. Nancy, Kendra and Paul made so many memories travelling around the world for dance competitions. Nancy never ever missed one of her daughter’s performances. She was and always will be Kendra’s biggest fan.
Among so many things, Nancy will always be remembered as a true warrior. She will be missed by countless relatives, friends, and all the people whose lives she touched. Her unmatched kindness, compassion, and humour have imprinted on the hearts of so many. The world truly is a better place because Nancy was in it.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00p.m. Memorial Service will be celebrated at Port Nelson United Church, 3132 South Dr, Burlington, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 1:00p.m. For friends and family who live afar, the service will be live streamed at: youtube.com/@PortNelsonUnitedChurch
