In Celebration of
Rita Gertrude (nee Homitz) Vollick
October 30, 1928 –
May 28, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Vollick in her 95th year. Born in Mount Carmel, PA her sister Tess convinced her to come Canada in her late teens where she fell in love and married Albert Edward Vollick (deceased). She had a successful career as an executive secretary at Ontario Hydro before enjoying a lengthy and active retirement. She volunteered at numerous Catholic parishes in Mississauga and for “Strokers”, a group for stroke survivors where she was recognized with an award for her service. She will be fondly remembered for her gift of socialization, being an avid card and armchair Jeopardy player, and for always being impeccably dressed and well coiffed.
She is survived by her two sons David (Barbara) and Gary (Teresa), grandchildren Ian (Joy Stewart) Cooper (Lindsay Miller) Shaun (Daniel Bosc) and Heather (Will Saxon) and great grandson James.
Friends may call at Turner & Porter “Peel Chapel” Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral Mass to be held at St Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, 625 Atwater Ave. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
