Obituary
Leo was married to his loving wife Doreen just a few months shy of 70 years, They shared many milestones starting with raising their family in Chateauguay, Quebec with son Neil (Diane), Karen (Ed), and Darlene (Brian).
Most years were spent in arenas, traveling from town to town with all three of his children. If it wasn’t hockey, it was figure skating, both Doreen and Leo were very dedicated supportive parents as they took on many roles such as #1 fans and chauffeurs. In the 1980’s Leo who was in his 50’s picked up the sport of running. He was seen running the streets of Chateauguay and made his family proud by entering and completing 6 marathons.
Eventually, the kids flew the coop and both Doreen and Leo found themselves alone in Chateauguay while their children had moved to Ontario and California. Retirement came along and they decided to pick up and move to Ontario alongside two of their children and 3 grandchildren. The first move was to Bowmanville, Ont. Then they made their final move to Mississauga, ON. a few years later. Over the years Leo was surrounded by 4 grandkids, Krystie (Eric), Brad (Natasha), Chad (Kerri), and Nicholas.
Leo, once again found himself spending many hours chauffeuring, encouraging, and supporting the boys in various towns and arenas. Many memorable winter months were spent in California soaking in the sun and loving every moment spent with Karen, Ed, and his loving grandson Nicholas. Of course, even in California Leo was making friends at the local shopping mall.
In 2011 he became a proud Great-Grandfather (“GRAND-PEPPI”) and by 2022 he had a total of 9 Great-Grandkids. This resulted in the extension of his arena life. To his delight, many impressed their great-grandfather as they glided along the ice, falling and picking themselves up, making passes, and scoring goals. Brody, Jake, Kennedy, Jaxon, Julia, Cole, Jazmine, Reign, and Dylan have been blessed with having “Grand-Peppi” fill their hearts with love, snuggles, and pockets overflowing with Jelly Beans and Jujubes. Rest in Peace Leo, Dad, Peppi, Poppi, Grand-Peppi. We Love You So Much.
