The family announces with great sorrow Lillian’s passing in Sudbury, on Thursday, September 26th, at the age of 83. Daughter of the late Ernest and Rosalie (née Lapensée) Dupuis. Beloved mother of Marc (Pauline) of Hampton, Roland (Lise Dutrisac) and Richard (Johane) both of Sudbury, Lee-Anne McGregor (Kevin) and Danny Lavoie (Céline), both of Ottawa. Beloved sister of Suzanne McArthur (Jamie Jamieson) of Sudbury. Predeceased by her husband, Don, and by her cherished brothers Lionel, Réginald, Roger, Emile, Conrad, Victor, and her sisters Bernice (Lamothe), Edna (Nadon), Rollande (Bélanger) and Geraldine (Nadon). Cherished “Mémère” of Joëlle Charette (Moe) and Alain of Sudbury and Alexander (Catherine) and Connor (Tessa) both of Winnipeg and Julie Stirling (Tyler) of Bowmanville and Chantal (Calvin) of Little Britain, and Mitchell McGregor and Andrea McGregor (Scott), both of Ottawa. Cherished great grandmother to Sophie, Nadine, Lesia, Annabelle and Carter.
Family was of utmost importance to Lillian and she loved visiting with them and having them visit her. She was so very proud of her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Her walls at St. Joseph Villa were decorated with pictures of all of them.
Born and raised in Mattawa, she raised her family in Garson. She retired to Mattawa where she enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters and friends. She moved to Sudbury in 2018, however, her heart was still in Mattawa of which she often spoke. She would proudly share with everyone that she was from Mattawa and an instant bond was created should they also be from there.
Lillian took great pride in her appearance and always dressed impeccably in well coordinated outfits accessorized with just the right earrings and necklace. She was very particular and liked things done a certain way and would let you know if it was not. Christmas was her favourite holiday and she always decorated her home from top to bottom with bright lights and wreaths and anything Christmas. As for her Christmas baking, she always delighted us with, amongst other desserts, her famous pets de soeur (French Canadian Cinnamon Pastries).
Lillian was a devout Catholic, forever with her prayer beads and weekly televised mass. She loved country music and in her healthier days, she loved dancing. We feel she may now be dancing with those who passed before her and with whom she is now reunited.
A special thank you to St. Joseph Villa and all those who cared for Lillian in her last year.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a funeral mass on Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 11 am at St-Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Mattawa, followed by a reception at the Mattawa Golden Age Club, 464 Poplar St, Mattawa.
