LACARIA ‘NANCY’ GENEREAUX – Our family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Lacaria Nancy Genereaux on December 18, 2022, in her 80th year. Nancy was born in England, on April 21, 1944, to parents Harold (Hank) and Betty Smith. After the war, Hank returned to Canada to build a home for his bride, and two young children, who would soon follow. Three more children would complete the family. Nancy is predeceased by siblings Robert and Bonita, and is survived by two brothers, David (Nellie) Smith of Campbellford, Ontario, and Blair (Susan) Smith of Bracebridge, Ontario. Nancy was predeceased by her husband David Genereaux. They enjoyed many happy years of travel, family, and a shared calling to looking after others, in the healthcare field. Family was important to Nancy, and she is lovingly remembered by her two children: Philip (Sheryl) Whybrew of Alberta, and Samantha (Mark) Baumhour of Madoc, Ontario, and her Step-Daughter Lorraine (Shawn) Adams of Madoc, Ontario. Her grandchildren will forever remember all of the wonderful things that she would do for them, such as her famous chocolate chip cookies, her Easter Bunny suit and visits, Nanny days, playing hooky from school, and how she made each birthday and special occasion something to remember. Grandchildren include: Amanda, Katelyn, Michael, Daniel, Zachary, Caleb, Reyna, Cole, Kenna, and great-grandchildren Kaiden, Evelyn, Eloise, Layla, Cohen, Ayda, and Bailey. Nancy worked as a RPN for many years at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Marmora. Taking care of people was her calling. She would often form close relationships with her residents, and treated them like family. Upon her retirement, Nancy became involved in volunteering in her community (O’Hara Mill, and the Bookworm). She worked tirelessly in her gardens, and enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

At Rushnell Funeral Homes – Madoc, 112 Durham Street South, on Saturday, January 30, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 P.M. Memorial Service to follow in the Chapel, at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Norman Long officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
