John Michael Lorenzo, 80 years old, passed away peacefully at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital in his beloved City of Toronto.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home at 8911 Woodbine Avenue. Markham, Ontario on Monday, September 2nd from 6pm-9pm and the funeral will take place at St. Basil’s Church at 50 St. Joseph Street, Toronto on Tuesday, September 3rd at 10am.
John Lorenzo was born in Jerusalem to Michael and Alexandra Lorenzo on May 14, 1944. He attended the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. There he thrived in his academic, life falling in love with literature, philosophy and economics. It was his love of business and his entrepreneurial spirit that led him down a path of business ventures that had him travelling to all corners of the world (another one of his passions). He created business opportunities everywhere he went. His diverse career spanned from the transfer of technology of a jet trainer from Europe to North America, to land development, and the creation of an upscale chain of cafes. He left no stone unturned in his search to consistently learn more and loved nothing more than sharing the stories that he collected along the way, always with great charm and enthusiasm. He was a man whose intelligence, charm, and eloquence could captivate a room full of people, and whose sense of humor could lighten any situation.
John was deeply religious. A generous man, first and foremost with his family and also to many charities he held close to his heart, and truly, wherever he saw need.
John Lorenzo is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah and his beautiful sisters, Vera, Mary, Katie, Odette and Elizabeth. He was the proud father of Paulette, Laura Lee, and Michael (and his wife Jennifer). Grandfather to John-Ross, Kate, and James. Beloved uncle and lifetime business partner Anton. (special mention to Daisy, his beloved cat).
