Lynda Carole Nitchie, a charasmatic and beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, sadly passed away in the early morning on Thursday, May 23, 2024, after a brief but courageous fight with cancer, at the age of 77. In her final days, she was surrounded by her immediate family, whom she loved dearly. With her two daughters by her side, Lynda peacefully left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Lynda is lovingly survived by her two devoted daughters, Tammi (Dave Mackenzie) and Lori (Matthew Macleod); her cherished granddaughters, Ava Mackenzie and Avianna Enright; her brothers, David (Janet) Hassall and Danny (Jacqueline) Hassall; as well as her niece Tanya Hassall, and nephews Greg, DJ, and David Hassall, who were all deeply loved and cherished by her.
In Lynda’s memory, her family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her loved ones who passed before her, including her loving mother Jean Hassall and beloved brother Gary Hassall.
Born in Tillsonburg, Ontario on September 18, 1946, Lynda is fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, sharp wit, incredible strength, and timeless beauty. With a heart of gold, Lynda was renowned for her generosity, always giving more than she received.
Lynda’s passion for creativity started in her early days as a hairdresser, where she took pride into making others look and feel their best. But her true gift was with words – she had a way with language that could inspire, uplift, and move people to tears. She wrote poetry and songs, and even wrote a catchy jingle that made its way onto the radio. But perhaps her best work was the school speeches she wrote for her daughters that won them awards.
Everyone who knew Lynda will deeply miss her but continue to celebrate her life and spirit with gratitude and love.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your spirit will forever be with us, guiding us to live with love, laughter, and strength that you embodied every day.
