BURNS, Lawrence “Larry” Gerald – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Larry on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Ross Memorial Hospital. He was a devoted family man who had a passion for horses and sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren supporting their many interests and activities. It is here he could be found sharing advice and cheering from the stands. He enjoyed his morning drives to “check things out” and evenings on the porch. Larry was a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Burns. Loving father to Jennifer Burns West (Randy), and Taunya Ashman (Craig). Proud Grandfather to Mac West (Jacqueline Chartier), Julia West, Olivia, and Gabrielle Ashman. Predeceased by his parents, Leo and Ursula Burns, and his siblings; Sheila, Mary, Alan (Blanche), Peter (Alma), Ross, Bill, Rose Scott (Ernie), and Pat. Survived by his sisters; Pauline Stanley (Bev), Judy Jewell (Gord), and Carol Burns (Samir), and sisters-in-law; Pauline Burns, Sandra Burns, Barb Quibell, and Mary Lou Tompkins (Bob). Larry will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A visitation will take place at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Thursday, June 13th from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 14th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 31 Russell Street East, Lindsay at 11:00am. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay. If desired, a memorial donation may be made to Community Care Kawartha Lakes, which would be appreciated by the family.
