Herbert Spreng Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert E. Spreng. Born on September 16, 1940, in East Berlin. He Immigrated to Canada in 1961. He passed away on December 22, 2023 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
He found employment as a body shop expert and a few years later he was hired on by Molson’s in Toronto, where he stayed until his retirement.
Together, with his first wife, Edma, they bought a home in Etobicoke and later a home on Washburn Island where they would spend their weekends. Herb had a large circle of friends in Toronto and would frequently visit his favourite restaurant/pub, The Musket.
After his wife’s passing, he met his current wife Yolie. They moved permanently to Washburn Island and together enjoyed their country life, along with boating, for many years. Leaving The Musket he became a regular at the Eldon Pub in Little Britain where once again, he had made friends with many people, from many walks of life, and exchanged many thoughts and ideas with them.
He was also a great fan of his numerous vehicles during his lifetime and one of his most cherished being a 1983 Porsche 911.
Being an artistic and creative person he loved to make many unusual decorative pieces.
His is survived by his wife Yolie of Little Britain, his older step sister Brigitte, nephew Mischa, along with a great niece, all in Germany.
He lived a very fulfilling, adventurous life. He loved traveling, socializing and his friend group grew forever. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eldon Pub (412 Eldon Road, Little Britain) on January 14, 2024 from 2PM – 4PM.
