Bryon Lee Lambert (May 3, 1945 – September 28, 2023)
Peacefully passed away at his home, with his family by his side, on Thursday September 28th at the age of 78.
Devoted husband to Lucy Lambert (nee Wojtaszynski) for over 45 years. Loving father to Brooke Lambert (John Nuernberger, d. 2020) and Jesse Lambert (d. 2018) and “Pop” to his three grandchildren; Leah, Samuel and Elijah Nuernberger. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Nancy, his extended family and his many, many friends.
Born in Courtland, Ont. to Robert Wesley DeLyle and Marion Lambert on May 3, 1945, older brother to Ronald Lambert (Susan Bowman) – Bryon was an outdoors enthusiast, fisherman, hunter and history buff from the get-go.
Bryon’s first job was as a proud tobacco picker, but he found his calling when he began his 30-year teaching career. He started in the primary grades and then moved on to teach Industrial Arts at University Heights Secondary School in Waterloo Region. He was an avid sharer of information and wisdom and always willing to lend a listening ear to students, parents, and colleagues alike.
A born extrovert, his love of people extended to all the friends he made throughout his lifetime. He built relationships with anyone and everyone. From the bank, to the market, to the streets of downtown Kitchener, if you’d ever taken the time to chat with him, he counted you a friend. His many interests – including but not limited to politics, religion, war and aviation history (inspired by his father and grandfather), USANA, his beloved pets, animals and nature, and the local blues scene – meant that there was never a shortage of conversation topics or debates to be had! Bryon just loved connecting with people. Bryon also loved God with all his heart and wanted to share that love wherever he could.
Bryon and his family would like to thank all of those who provided support and medical care over the years. This includes his long-time family doctor, Dr. John Bordman, his diabetes, cancer, and kidney/dialysis specialists (among others) as well as the wonderful PSWs that became part of the family.
A celebration of Bryon’s life will be held on Saturday October 7th at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. with a service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. followed immediately by a reception with light refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of the many people in need of a warm meal and a welcoming space, donations can be made to the Ray of Hope Community Centre (ROHCC) in downtown Kitchener (cards available at the funeral home).
