Maurine Hall Obituary
Maurine Carroll Hall
It is with regret that the family of Maurine Carroll Hall (nee Humphries) announces her passing away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on December 31, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by daughter Susan Maurine (1990); parents Dorothy and Learl Humphries; and brother Dr. Paul Humphries. She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Dr. Gordon Hall, son Geoffrey (Amanda); grandchildren Lily and Simon. Also survived by sister-in-law Ilona Humphries, brother Darwin (Mary Lou) Humphries, nieces Corrina (Alain) Regnier, Jennifer (Gerard) Humphries, Lou Ann (John) Sinclair, Lucinda Humphries, Tammara Humphries and nephews, Arthur (Kanjo) Hall, Jamie (Beth) Humphries, Mark (Christianne) Hall, Michael (Carol) Humphries, Tyler Humphries. Maurine is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family.
Prior to marriage, Maurine was a Radiotherapy Technologist at the Ontario Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, Kingston. After marriage, Maurine and Gordon spent many years in Timmins, Ontario where her children were born and she devoted her life to her family. Retirement allowed relocation to Kingston to be close to family. Wherever she was, she was active in church work. Her hobbies included music, oil painting and sewing. She was a skilled seamstress, sewing creations for her family, but also providing clothing for those in need in the community.
Those who knew Maurine, have seen her as a quiet, gentle and endearing person, always wanting to be helpful to others. Although more recently, health issues have limited her abilities, she delighted in her grandchildren. She enjoyed time with them at the piano, teaching them some rudiments of sketching and planning sewing projects for them.
Although Maurine is no longer physically with us, she will be with her loved ones every day in her own little way.
Funeral service will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston) on Saturday, January 13 at 11 am. Friends will be received from 10:00 – 10:50 am prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Maurine to the Alzheimer’s Society would be gratefully appreciated.
Peace is what I leave with you;
It is my own peace that I give you.
I do not give it as the world does.
Do not be worried and upset;
Do not be afraid.
