Gordon Lee Place Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Place, affectionately known as Gordie, on March 3rd 2024, at the age of 80.
A long-time employee of the Kingston Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Gordie was a man of few words that was known for his quiet demeanor, hardworking nature and great sense of humour. He found joy in the outdoors through his love of fishing and many woodworking projects.
He will be forever missed by his partner Wendy Dowker, children Shelley Clancy (Derek) and Greg Place (Paula), grandchildren Jacob and Megan Clancy, Madeline, Hannah, and Daphne Place.
Gordie is preceded in death by his late wife Constance (Connie) Place and his parents Mary and Warren Place. He is also reunited with his siblings Judy Ambury, Susan Teepell and Steven Place, as well as sister-n-law Merle Dean and brothers-in-law David Dean and Rick Ruttan.
Remembered by sisters-in-law Carol Donaldson and Cindy Fleming, brothers-in-law Howard Ambury, Tim Teepell and Andre Gerow as well as Danielle and Darcy (Tia) Dowker, their children and many nieces and nephews.
For the past few years Gordie has resided at Fairmount Home and the family expresses deep gratitude for the compassionate and exceptional care Gord received while there.
Cremation has taken place and at Gordie’s request there will no service except a private family burial. Memorial donations, for those who wish, can be made to Fairmount Home in Gordie’s memory.
