Alberta Jane Stinson of Sunset Manor, Collingwood, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the age of 82. Alberta recently resided in Blue Mountain Manor, Stayner, prior to her move to Sunset Manor. She had moved to Wasaga Beach in 2016, having lived most of her life in Toronto.
Alberta started her adult life traveling Europe. She then settled in Toronto to work for IBM. This allowed her the opportunity to continue traveling across Canada. Alberta also gave back to her community as a volunteer, teaching English as a second language to new Canadians. She retired 30 years ago from IBM, and was a vibrant career woman.
Sister of Irving (Janet) Stinson of Guelph, Shirley (Ralph) Coates-Male of Wasaga Beach, Jean Stinson of Guelph, and John (Beth) Stinson of Moorefield.
Remembered by nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Doug), Lorelei (Dave), Carolyn (Derek), Kevin (Meggen), and Donna (Andy); great-nieces and nephews: Michael (Keri), Sarah (Jake), Dani (aka Emily), Tyler and Lucas; and great-great-niece and nephew: Maddie and Liam.
Predeceased by her parents Albert ‘Bert’ and Marjorie (Connell) Stinson, brother-in-law Hugh Coates, and her sister-in-law Janet Stinson.
The funeral service will be held at the Harriston United Church, (57 Young St. W.) on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow.
Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario would be appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
