Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospital on November 17, 2024 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Maria for 50 years. Loving father of Nelson (Sandy) and John (Patricia). Proud Avo to Nicholas, Cynthia, Christopher, Angelina and Isla. Dear brother and brother in law of the late Deolinda (the late Albert) Medeiros, Fatima (the late Tiberio) Tavares, Edelta (Jorge) Costa, the late Balbina (the late Antonio) Medeiros, the late Helena (the late Joao) Medeiros, the late Manuel (Maria) Costa, Hirondina (the late Manuel) Avelar and Maria (Manuel) Pavao. Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joao was an employee of Maple Leaf and retired with 37 years of service. Special thank you to all the staff at Dr. Dao’s and St. Joseph’s Hospital for all their care and compassion. Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Wednesday, November 20 from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
