After a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, Christa passed away surrounded by family on October 14, 2023, at the age of 75. Christa is survived by her loving husband of 53 years John; daughters, Julie (Scott) and Jennifer; and beloved grandchildren Sam, Sophia and Kaiden. She will be forever missed by her father Siegfried, siblings Ilse (Mike), Joe (Wendy) and Rick (Diana) and her large extended family. Christa was welcomed to heaven by her mother’s open arms, Gertrude, sister Siegrid and many more family.
Christa was born in Austria and travelled with her mother and father to start their lives in Canada. Following school, Christa trained to be a Registered Practical Nurse. Second to her family, nursing was Christa’s love. She dedicated her work life to Hamilton Health Sciences during her regular full-time and “retirement” full-time. She gave love to every person and patient that she crossed and continued to work for over 54 years of dedicated service.
The family would like to extend immense gratitude to the staff at the Juravinski Hospital and the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Their love and care made our mother’s final weeks so comfortable. Special thanks to nurses Clementine (Juravinski), Erin, Mary, and Maegan (Bob Kemp) and Dr’s Dobson, Chan and Khanna (Bob Kemp).
A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20th from 9:30-11 a.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East. A Service (11 a.m.) and Reception (12 p.m.) will immediately follow. Interment will occur at a later date.
In Lieu of Flowers donations to The Dr Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
