John “Jack” Parish Obituary
John “Jack” Evans Parish
August 9, 1933 – January 30, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jack Parish announce his passing two weeks after the loss of his soulmate and wife of 65 years, Shirley. He was in his 91st year. Jack is also predeceased by his son, John (2018), his parents May and Cliff and his beloved aunts and uncles, Midge (Hoppy) and Dill (Lelia). Jack is survived and will be forever missed by his children, Michele (Dean), Susan (Mark), and Robert (Vimalini). Jack was treasured by his grandchildren; Scott, Ian (Jess), Tyler, Matthew, Lauren (Brian), Hayley (Tim), Evan (Kristin), Cole (Nichelle), Klara, Vinita, Carys, Damon, Zachary and Caleb and his great-grandchildren Fitzgerald, Logan and Bennett. As an only child, he was very close to his extended family. Jack will be remembered fondly by cousins Rhondda, Judy, Glenda, Marg (Will), Dillwyn (Isabel).
Jack spent most of his life in London, working for 3M Canada for 40 years. Jack was a devoted family man and there were no lengths he wouldn’t go to ensure the happiness of his kids and grandkids. He took great joy in hearing the latest stories from them and was front row at as many concerts, graduations and sporting events as he and Shirley could attend. Jack was a quiet-natured, selfless and friendly man, putting other people’s needs before his own. He was a lifelong learner with a wide array of interests, always looking to know more about the world around him. His curiosity, kindness and patience will forever serve as a model for his adoring family. The loss of both Jack and Shirley in two short weeks leaves an incredible hole in the hearts of their family, one that can only be filled by the wonderful memories and gifts they gave them.
The family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare Halton Hills for their care and compassion towards Jack during his final months. Memories and condolences can be sent online to www.jonesfuneralhome.co. Donations in his memory can be made to the John Parish Memorial Scholarship at University of Waterloo.
A Celebration of Life for Jack and Shirley will take place in London, Ontario in the spring.
