Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Devolin, a hardworking and dedicated man who spent his entire life tending to the land and providing for his family and community. Bob passed away on April 26, 2023, at the age of 88.
Bob was a man who wore many hats. He was known for his love of country music, dancing, and when he wasn’t on the dance floor, you could find him glued to a curling match. In his retirement, Bob discovered the love for a good book, becoming an avid reader in his downtime from lending a hand (or truck) to those in need. A true “Mr. Fix It” who could repair just about anything and was always happy to share his skills with others – you could always “Call Bob!”. He also was very grateful for the travelling he was able to do with Mabel while he could.
However, above all else, Bob was a family man. He was married to his loving wife, Mabel, for 45 years, and together raised 5 children, Rob (Deb), Mark, Scott (Dianne), Heather, and Stacey. Bob was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first, when the cattle didn’t need him… and he took great pride in watching his family grow and succeed.
Bob will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Melissa (Paul), Lesley (Graeme), Karly (Niss), Greg (Chelsea), Aydan, and by his great grandchildren Alasdair, Lachlan and Leo. Dear brother of Marg, Betty, Ron, Jack, Carol, Dorothy, Keith, and preceded in death by brother Jim. Survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as by the many people whose lives he touched over the years. His kind heart, infectious smile (if you could catch it!), and unwavering generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in the Trafalgar Room – Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown between 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Rest in peace, Bob. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
