It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy, surrounded by his family on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Brightshores Health System, Markdale, of Eugenia in his 77th year. Beloved husband of 51 years to Gay(nee Thomson). Loving father of Richard(Samantha) of Sydney, Australia and Jackie(Josh) Davies of Markdale. Proud and loving grandfather of Jackson, Lincoln and Madison Cordell, Jacob and Joseph Davies. Dear brother of Donald(the late Dina) of Peterborough and John(Karol) of Grand Valley. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Roy was born March 14, 1948 to Leonard and Thelma in Toronto, Ontario. He was raised in Downsview and was in the first class of the brand new(at the time) Seneca College, graduating with a diploma in Sales and Marketing. He was lucky enough to go on a blind date that would change his life forever, and married in 1973. Roy gained employment at Kodak Canada before moving to Diversey Chemical, doing sales for them, travelling all over Canada. He retired in 2013 from his final job at SC Johnson Wax. Roy had a great love of travelling; taking the motorhome with Gay all over North America, cruises that took them to almost all the continents, and of course, many trips to Australia. He enjoyed cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, fishing and spending time at the cottage(Go Home Lake) but most of all he loved watching his grandchildren grow. His presence will be greatly missed.
The family requests you join them in celebrating such a beautiful life, at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Wednesday, September 25 from 1:00-3:00pm, with memories being shared at 2:00pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Chapman House, Residential Hospice Grey Bruce, would be greatly appreciated.
