Inglis, Carl David
It is with great sorrow we share the sudden passing of Carl Inglis on Saturday, November 9th at his home in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Joanne. Much loved father of Kevin (Michele), Sharron (Ed) and Cheryl (Mike). Grandfather of Brendan and Kelsey. Treasured by his many extended family.
Carl was the eldest son of Ernest and Florence and will be sorely missed by his 12 siblings; Peter (the late Marga), Gerald (Daphne), the late Wendy (Brian), the late Ann, the late Christine, Marjorie, Bernard (the late Margaret), Valerie (Martyn), Lynda (Richard), Jeremy (Lin), Stephen (Cass) and Susan (Tom).
Carl was born and raised in Frimley Mytchett England and moved to Canada in 1958 with hopes of becoming a pilot. While in England, Carl attended a private school in Farnham to complete his secondary education and continued on to the Royal Aircraft Establishment where he got his certifications in welding and engineering.
Though his aspirations to be a pilot never came to fruition, he worked tirelessly in many occupations from Magna Engineering to Caounaught Labs before going on to Teacher’s College in Toronto. He continued his career as a teacher with the Peel School Board until retiring as a tech director in the Woodlands in the early 90s.
Joanne and Carl moved to Grey County 50 years ago, where he renovated the ruins of an old farmhouse into their home. He was incredibly handy and his incredible problem solving skills were well used when he built many sailboat interiors and a variety of other projects. Carl was an incredible cook, renowned in his family to having the skills to curate his own cookbook, though he never did. His skills in the kitchen extending to baking as well, even making a wedding cake for his daughter Sharron. Carl lived life to the fullest, his determination and confidence lead him to pursue many traveling adventures, including a voyage on his own sailboat across the Atlantic. He loved badminton, tennis, pickle ball and curling, a man that never wanted to be kept down.
An incredibly supportive and encouraging provider to Joanne and his children will leave a lasting impact on the lives of all those he touched. His happy smile will be forever etched in their hearts.
The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception in Flesherton on Saturday, November 16th from 10am until the time of service at 11am. All are welcome to join the family following the service for a time of refreshment. In lieu of flowers donations to the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, or the charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
