April 5, 2024
Passed away peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital on April 5, 2024 at the age of 86 years.
Survived by his beloved wife and best friend Maxine (nee Roberts) of 61 years.
Loving father to daughter Dr. Jean Barwell (Brent) Hubbs and son Frederick (Tanya) Barwell and four very much loved grandchildren, Matthew and Meredith Hubbs and Joshua and James Barwell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Also survived by his loving brother Tom (Mickie). Predeceased by parents Frederick and Winifred Barwell and sisters Annie Carpenter and Winifred Broughton.
Fred was employed by General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 2001.
At Fred’s request, cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends at Turner & Porter Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 from 12 to 1 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at 1 pm with reception to follow.
If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
