Charbonneau, Sue
Sue Charbonneau, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Windsor and raised in Amherstburg, Sue’s infectious smile and contagious laugh brightened the lives of all who knew her. She was a dedicated caregiver from a young age, looking after her younger siblings before moving to Toronto at 17 to pursue a career in business. Sue worked her way up in the insurance world from the bottom to become Vice President of a global insurance brokerage, where she spent the final 20 years of her career before retiring in 2016. Sue’s impact extended far beyond her professional achievements – she was an inspiration and mentor to many young girls and women considering careers in business. Her warm presence, marvelous sense of humour, and down-to-earth nature made her a joy to be around, and she was liked and respected by all who knew her. Sue’s legacy lives on through her loving family, including her loyal and attentive spouse Bruce Wheatley, daughter Sherry Fjell (Rod), son Adam Charbonneau (Denise), granddaughter Emily Fjell (Lance and Billy), grandson Ryan Fjell (Joselyne), sister Diane Greenham (Randy), brother Mark Imeson, and friend of 70 years Carol Pillon and numerous Nieces and Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Sue will be remembered as one hell of a shopper (and sleeper), and for her love of lunches with colleagues at Red Lobster. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Transition to Betterness (t2b.ca) in Sue’s memory. T2B is a charity we encountered doing great work at Hotel Dieu where Sue received excellent palliative care. Rest in peace, Sue. Your light will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who knew you.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 25 in Amherstburg at 4365 Concession 4 South, from 1-4 pm.
