Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 19, 2024, at 97 years of age. Dear wife of the late Morley Stephens (1975). Loving mother of Morley Stephens (Margaret), John Stephens (Cindy), Christina Bellaire (David) and Ann Marie Bastien (Chris).Treasured grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Bernadette Desjardins (late Lawrence). Predeceased by Madonna Alexander (late Bill), Theresa Moore (late Clayton), Veronica Doan (late Gus), George Tremblay (Alma), Marie Evoy (late Owen). Beatrice Allison (late Donald), Catherine Bastien (late Raymond), and Robert Deveau (late Mary). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rita was kind to everyone she met, always willing to lend a helping hand. After the passing of her husband in 1975 she raised two daughters on her own. She could be found baking pies and every Christmas she would make her Christmas cakes. Rita was very strong in her faith and was a lifetime member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Es and a long-time member of the CWL. Our family would like to thank the staff at Iler Lodge for their care and compassion. Rita is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North Es on Tuesday April 23, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 24, 2024 at the Holy Name of Jesus Church (146 Talbot St. S, Es) at 11:00 a.m. Visiting begins at the church at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
