Passed away peacefully with his family beside him at Richmond Terrace Nursing Home on June 4, 2024, at 99 years old. Dear husband of the late Winifred Dorothy. (Weatherbie). Loving stepfather of Gordon F. Weatherbie “Rick”, and the late Douglas A. and Dean A. Weatherbie.
Treasured grandpa of David Weatherbie (Connie), Michelle Ruthven/Weatherbie (Jim), Sheri Blair (Troy), Steven M. Weatherbie (Molly), and Douglas M. McCormick (Shannon). Great grandpa of 12 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Johnny Balipap. Also survived by his God son Kevin Bennett.
The community and neighbours cherished Mike when he volunteered. He belonged to Church of the Redeemer and St. Stephens for a long time. Mike was in the Canadian Military in WWII and stationed in Vancouver. Mike also enjoyed being a pilot. He worked at Chrysler until he retired. Mike loved farming, and he farmed in Es County all his life. He also enjoyed outdoor activities and hunting in Northern Ontario, as well as making wine. Special thanks to the staff of Richmond Terrace, especially 2 West and 3 East; and to Sarah for staying by his side during his last moments.
Mike is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North, Es on Thursday, June 6 from 2-5 p.m. and on Friday, June 7 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
