With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Maria with her family by her side on June 30, 2024, at 95 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Alojzij “Louis” (2012). Loving and devoted mother of Mary Yakopich (John), Ann Brenton (Fred), Mario Zagar (Anne), Carol Diemer (John), and Kathy Quinlan (Patrick). Treasured grandma of Carolyn, Johnny, Stephanie (Shane), Michael, Kendall, Connor (Nicole), Evan (Karen), Ian (Ashley), Ryan and Jacob. Great grandma of Lindsay, Megan, and Chloe. Dear sister of Mario Jeriha of Argentina. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Slovenia and Argentina.
Maria was an amazing woman and the matriarch of our family. Not only an excellent cook and baker, but she also kept busy with doing many crafts. She was fluent in many languages and was a member of the Slovenian Cultural Club ZVON, organizing many successful Carrousels and other cultural events, leading the women in the kitchen baking apple strudels and empanadas. Maria dearly loved her grandchildren, and they all have fond memories of their time spent together. Maria will be sadly missed by all.

Maria is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North, Es on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. (Livestream available).
Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Windsor Es Community Health Centre.
