Derek Joseph Fletcher

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Derek on October 7, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Windsor Regional Hospital-Ouellette Campus. Beloved husband of Debbie (Lott) for 37 years. Cherished son of Lorelie & Joseph (2017) Fletcher. Son-in-law to the late Ray & Norma Lott (2012). He will be sadly missed by sisters Roxann Mailloux, Julia Fletcher (Craig) and Kelly (Dave) Levy. Brother-in-law to Donald Lott and the late Colleen (2021). Loving uncle to Cory (Noel) Mailloux, Brad (Julia) Mailloux, Nicholas (Sarah) Levy, Shawn Levy, Daryl and Kyle Lott. Loved by great nieces Paisley, Willow, Madison, Marisa and great nephews Lucas, Hudson, Ethan and Evan. He loved his fur baby family and they will miss him.
Derek is a Honeywell retiree. He met many people along the way who will remember him for his easy-going, friendly and generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was the go-to guy who could fix or renovate almost anything. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and enjoyed cruising in his ’66 Chevy Impala, his most prized possession. He enjoyed sailing and had a keen interest in wooden boats. As an accomplished woodworker, he created many beautiful pieces of fine furniture and turned stunning wooden bowls and made many unique gifts. He proudly crafted memory boxes for each great niece and great nephew when they were born, as a keepsake.
For now Derek, and it’s so very hard, we say our final farewell. You will forever be in our thoughts…just everyday things. We’ve asked Dad to throw you a rope, guide you up and hold you tight. Love you always and forever. Derek’s request was no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Derek’s life will be held at a future date for family and friends. Thank you to all the ICU Doctors and nursing staff at Windsor Regional Hospital-Ouellette Campus for taking the best possible care of him and for your compassion through this difficult time.
