With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dawn Winnifred Ellen Pocock (England) on December 2nd at 78 years old. Wife to the late Robert Pocock. Mom was the BEST… Mom, Grandmother, Foster mom, Wife, Teacher, Hockey enthusiast, Friend, proud Irishwoman, Aunt, Sister, Sister-in-law, Volunteer, dedicated Anglican, Political critic, Dog mom, Tough old bird and so many more whimsical hats she wore throughout the years. Mom was, also, wise, patient, stubborn, funny, intelligent, full of witt/sarcasm (sometimes it was hard to know which one), and yet she was the most caring soul to all walks of life.
Mom was the ultimate warrior of scleroderma, fighting off the horrible disease for 38 years (which is probably a world record). Our family greatly appreciated all the doctors and healthcare providers that helped keep Mom going beyond her years, especially Dr. N. Krayacich, Dr. Nicole Leriche, Dr. M. Zayouna, & the late Dr. Smetan. The family would like to thank her all friends at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Es Retirees club, home care workers and everyone who helped Mom in her time of need especially Sandy and Terry.
Dawn leaves beyond her children…Tiffany (Clarence), Erin (Scott), Phil (Melissa) and Frank (Amanda). Her grandchildren…Grace (Jordan), Victoria, Jack, Colin, Aiden, Keelin, Leah, Finnley & Derek plus many nieces and nephews. Mom will be missed greatly by her all her friends and extended family including her “buddy til the bitter end” Max the Bichon.
Dawn is resting at Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. at 128 Talbot St. North in Es for visitation on Thursday December 7th from 2-4 pm and again at 6-8 pm. On Friday December 8th, Dawn’s family welcomes friends to join them at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (92 St. Paul St in Es), which will be followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. and reception afterwards. Dawn will be laid to rest at the Country Meadows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dawn’s honour can be directed to the Es Area Foodbank or Windsor-Es Children’s Aid Society. Condolences can be shared with the family online at www.kennedyfh.com.
