Peacefully, surrounded by family at Extendicare Kingston. Jansje (née Veldman) Keates of Elgin in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Charles Thomas (Tom) Keates. Cherished mother of Cathy (Mark Hostetler) and Margaret (Geoff Reid) of Kingston. Dear sister of Derk (Wenda) Veldman of Perth, Gerrit (Diane) Veldman of Belleville, Walter Veldman of Kingston, and Wilma (Kim) Snider of Calgary, Alberta. Treasured grandmother to Cameron, Caitlyn, Dylan, and Michael. Predeceased by her parents, Harmen and Jansje Veldman. Fondly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Devoted baker, 4H leader, Sunday School teacher and community member. Happiest when making others happy. The family will receive friends at Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main St. Elgin, on Friday, May 24, from 4 to 6 pm and Saturday, May 25, at 1 pm until time of service at 2 pm. Inurnment at Halladay Cemetery, Elgin, followed by a reception at the Elgin Community Hall from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Parkinson Canada or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
