CHRISTINCK, Ralph
October 31, 1961 – November 6, 2024
Ralph Christinck, faithful follower of Jesus, loving family man, creative entrepreneur and loyal friend, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 with his family by his side. He was 63.
Born in Pembroke to German immigrant parents, Ralph attended a one-room schoolhouse in South Algona and on his first day of school spoke no English. He quickly picked it up and continued his academic pursuits culminating in his degree in Math and Computer Science from the University of Toronto, an alma matter he remained very proud of.
However, his heart was with working with plants, trees and the family business of Gerber’s Nursery. Ralph left the world a much more beautiful place through his landscaping and horticultural work.
Ralph met his wife Debbi while they were both working in Europe and together their family grew to include Elisa, Robert and Sam, most recently joined by his precious little grandson Isaiah.
Known for his funny t-shirts, Ralph had a great sense of humour. He was also compassionate and helped many behind the scenes quietly.
Ralph was supported in his cancer journey by so many, including faithful family and friends, compassionate healthcare providers and the wonderful staff at Gerber’s Nursery, who are extended family. He was so grateful for you all.
While Ralph found fulfilment in work and joy in his family, the most important thing to him was his Saviour, Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father. A devoted man of God throughout his life, since his cancer diagnosis he delved more deeply into scripture and had an earnest desire for others to come to faith. It was this faith which saw him through over 100 chemo treatments, two treatment trials, several complications and two surgeries. He was also supported by countless faithful prayer warriors and he truly believed it was God’s grace which allowed him to live as long as he did.
Survived by his wife, Debbi, children Elisa (Dan), Robert, Sam and grandson Isaiah, as well as siblings Frank (Susan) and Rosemary (Tim), and brother-in-law David (Bonnie), mother-in-law Joyce, as well as many nephews and nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts. He loved you all.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Anne, brother Thomas and sister-in-law Kathryn and brother-in-law Michael.
Visitation will be at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville, on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. A Funeral Service will be at Gerber’s Nursery at the outdoor chapel, on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm with interment to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will be held at Gerber’s Nursery.
If desired, donations may be made to Madawaska Valley Hospice or Arms of Jesus in memory of Ralph.
