Jennifer Anne “Jen” Bergsma.
Jen passed suddenly at her home in Calgary, AB on April 20.2024 at the age of 41. She was born on Nov.7, 1982 in Dunnville, ON. Jen was known for her loving and generous nature, intelligence, creativity and wicked sense of humor, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jennifer, a 311 agent with the City of Calgary, had a passion for helping others. Outside of work, she enjoyed hiking, camping, snowboarding, paddleboarding, crocheting and jewelry making. Jennifer also worked for a bus transportation company and drove bus in Northern BC transporting workers into remote gas rig fields. She had the opportunity to drive for Team USA at the IIHF World U18 Championship in BC. Jennifer travelled to Toronto to drive school bus for a short time, there she delighted her students and their parents by showing up dressed up as Miss Frizzle of Magic School Bus at Halloween. Her adventurous spirit and diverse interests made her a joy to be around.
Jennifer is survived by her parents Gene and Lorrie Bergsma, sister Amy Bergsma; brother Stephen Bergsma; nephews Nathaniel, Elijah and Jacob MacDonald, niece Brooklyn Bergsma and furbabies Piper and Stewart, Her best friend Shyanne Hansen and her son Rowan, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Bob and Sandra Shoalts and Evert and Ann Bergsma.
A celebration of Jen’s life will be held at Marshville Heritage Village in Wainfleet, ON with details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jennifer’s memory to Animal Services Center, 2201 Portland St. SE, Calgary, AB T2G 4M7. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com
