Pauline Gallagher passed away on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at her home in Collingwood, Ontario at the age of 76.
She is now free from pain and worries and is joyfully reunited with her parents and friends who have Risen Above before her.
Predeceased by her mother Josephine (née Harrington) and father, John Gallagher, of Ireland, her cousin Roly O’Shaughnessy and his wife, Mary, of Collingwood.
Pauline’s wife, Trish, will forever cherish fond memories as will her cousins in Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland. She will be missed by her many longtime friends as well as the wonderful new friends she met along her Road to Recovery.
Pauline will be remembered for her absolute love of travel, her sense of humour and her writing. She brought smiles to many through the children’s stories and other books she published.
Pauline loved animals and spent many years travelling the world while looking after a myriad of pets and even farm animals. She was at home in nature but also truly at ease with people. Her Irish charm never dimmed.
Pauline emigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1970 and settled in Toronto where she soon completed her BA and then MEd at the University of Toronto. She was a dedicated teacher with the Toronto Catholic School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board. She eventually ran the Special Needs Program at St. Joseph’s High School in Barrie.
Donations in Pauline’s memory can be made to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society or any local branch, or to any non-profit helping Friends of Bill. A Celebration of Pauline’s Life will take place in May/June 2024 in Collingwood, Ontario.
