Mary Anne Reid (nee Gallo)
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary, June 12, 2024 at the age of 93. Mary lived a full life with a sense of humour unaltered by her cognitive losses. New friends and old friends became friends for life.
Born in Toronto February 25, 1931 to Josephine Balutavich from Lithuania and Raffaele Gallo from Italy. Predeceased by her loving husband Gord in 2006. Mother to David (Tracey), Joanne (Ric) and Laurie. Grandmother to Stephanie, Vanessa, Mathew, David, Kyra, and Gaga to Olivia and Ethan. Great-grandmother to Kian and Aiden. Brother to Alfred (Barb) and aunt to Paula and Melissa. Beloved Aunt to Dennis & Pauline Johnson and family in Newfoundland. Remembered by many friends in Toronto, Wasaga Beach, Cobourg (Nola Rodgers), New Port Richey, Florida (Joyce Clark), Stevenson Ranch, California (Mima Blake) and Berlin, Germany (Elke Rosin) as well as relatives in Wisconsin, California, Lithuania and Italy.
Proud “Bell Pioneer”, Mary was a 32 year employee of Bell Canada. She enjoyed many activities such as travelling, camping, gardening, golfing and keeping up with current events as an avid cover to cover reader of her daily newspaper and watching the news on TV. Her special place would remain Wasaga Beach from before her marriage in 1950 until her passing close by in Collingwood, Ontario. Thank you to the staff of Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, the caring staff of Pretty River Residence, especially Nurse Julia and the Kingsway by Rivera staff, especially Nurse Natalia.
A celebration of life will take place at a later time. Remembrances to a charity of your choice.
