Isidore “Isi” Joseph D’Eon
It is with profound sadness that the family of Isidore D’Eon announce his passing on June 13, 2024, at the age of 72, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Isidore was born and raised in West Pubnico, Nova Scotia to Felicita and Leon D’Eon where he was the second eldest of 12. Isi always had a sense of adventure and at the age of 16 he began picking tobacco in Simcoe, Ontario during the summers. Isi went on to vocational school in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where he became a mechanic in 1971. He then began a 53-year long career that he loved. He later began working in the engine rooms of freighters, where he travelled all over Canada, the US and the Caribbean collecting amazing stories of all his travels. Isi had always loved helping and teaching people. During the course of his career he had countless apprentices he taught and many others he encouraged into mechanics. Isi eventually moved to Ontario in his twenties, where he settled and stayed.
Isidore was incredibly passionate about woodworking and had made incredible bowls, trucks, plates, utensils and many other functional pieces as well as treasures. He had a knack for being able to fix anything and everything. He loved the great outdoors and reveled in the beauty of nature. Isidore enjoyed photography and always carried a camera. He had an unquenchable love of life and always enjoyed every moment.
Isidore was the beloved husband of Sandra. The loving father of Tuesday, Sarah (Ricky) and Kaitlyn (Brodie). Cherished grandpa of Jolie, Carmelo, Scarlet, Odin, Angela, Codie, Christopher, Jesse James, Nathaniel and Allanah. He was a great grandfather to many great grandchildren. He was a brother to Allain, Therese, Gilles, Zoe, Marriette, Pierre, Corinne, Raymond and Edmond.
Isidore is predeceased by his daughters Cynthia and Eileen, brothers Issac and George, his mother Felicita and father Leon. Isidore will be sadly missed by brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and Margaret mother of Eileen, Tuesday and Sarah.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 2PM to 5PM at Sandra and Isi’s home in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Isidore’s name to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, Ontario.
