It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cheryl Bennett (neé Jones) age 69 on Wednesday September 18, 2024.
Cheryl was the heart and soul of our family. Loving wife of Allan since September 1981, proud mother of James (Jaime) and Alex (Dan) Bennett. Cherished Nana to Arthur and William. Beloved daughter of Jean and the late Gordon Jones. Devoted sister of Robert Jones (Annette Nastasi), Sandra (Keith) Vassallo and the late Christine Jones. Cheryl will be missed by her nieces, nephews and all who knew her.
Cheryl was born February 14, 1955. True to the date she had a big heart and compassion. After graduating from Vincent Massey High School in Etobicoke, she started her business career with Perkin Elmer Data Systems in Toronto. In the summer of 1976 while attending a birthday party at Ontario Place, she and Allan met, she swept him off his feet. Allan and Cheryl were married September 12, 1981. In July 1990 Allan and Cheryl moved to Collingwood to raise their growing family. In 1994 Cheryl, with the help of brother Robert, started the Collingwood office of Jones, Deslauriers Bennett Insurance now JDIMI, retiring July 31, 2024. During this time, Cheryl was a dedicated hockey mom, ski mom, baseball mom and house mom providing great care and guidance for Alexandra and James. Cheryl was an expert in her field of Home, Automobile and Commercial Insurance, a devoted mother and nana, a devoted and caring aunt, and a devoted friend/wife for 48 years.
A celebration of life will be held at Georgian Peaks Ski Club on Sunday October 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
